Lira Town College selected to host 2026 National Boys Football

Lira Town College has been officially selected to host the 2026 USSSA Boys’ National Football Championship, according to a press release from the 43rd USSSA Annual General Meeting (AGM) taking place at Front Page Hotel in Kampala.

According to the official list of hosts released by USSSA, Lira Town College will join a select group of elite schools entrusted with major national events in 2026. The lineup includes Janan Schools–Bombo Campus hosting the Elite Games, Seroma Christian High School hosting both Ball Games I and the Swimming Gala, and Sacred Heart School–Gulu hosting Ball Games II.

Therefore, the inclusion of Lira Town College among these top-tier hosts further underscores the school’s growing national stature and USSSA’s confidence in its capacity to deliver a successful National Boys’ Football Championship.

The selection follows a competitive national bidding process in which several schools presented proposals and underwent facility inspections. Evaluation teams assessed accommodation capacity, medical preparedness, security, and sports infrastructure. Lira Town College met the key requirements and impressed the committee with its readiness and long-term vision for school sports development.

This announcement comes on the back of LTC’s proactive efforts to position itself as a leading venue for national school sports. The school administration, staff and alumni have welcomed the announcement, describing it as a major milestone that reflects the unity, determination, and ambition of the LTC community. They acknowledged that the competition for hosting rights was tough but expressed gratitude for the positive outcome.

USSSA has, however, highlighted a number of areas requiring improvement, and a standby host has been named. The school has been encouraged to address the identified gaps to fully secure its hosting status and deliver a successful national championship.

Lira Town College’s selection is seen as a significant boost for sports in Northern Uganda and a testament to the school’s rising profile in regional and national competitions.
