Virtual E-Learning Workshop & Collaboration

Emmanuel Angoda& Zaharah Namanda, both of whom are 2019 Mandela Washington Fellowship alumni will organize an online  workshop on the theme, “Education as a Humanitarian Response: Using eLearning to Accelerate Learning in the Covid-19 Era.” This virtual event will bring together headteachers, teachers, students and other educators from Kampala & Lira Virtually, and will highlight the importance of education amidst this Covid-19 pandemic. The event will provide practical solutions on how schools, and teachers can use eLearning, within the framework of school environment, while using online school resources (e.g. computers, internet). Students will respond to virtual learning to improve their participation and learning outcomes. Participants will be Africa ELI students, and educators from Lira Town College. This virtual event will be implemented in three phases.
1. Educators’ virtual training (2 days). This will equip teachers and head teachers new online teaching methods/skills and how to apply them in virtual  classrooms.
2. Students’ Virtual training (2 days). This will equip learners with online skills especially navigating the online learning platforms.
3.Educator & Student virtual collaboration  hub (7 days). Students and teachers will be brought together to practice what they have learnt. This will be an online typical classroom that will be accessible by teachers and students. Teachers will spearhead students’ online learning engagement to ensure that their deliverables are met and students’ meet their online learning outcomes.
The Educators’ training will be spearheaded by Emmanuel Angoda, who works as a teacher at Lira Town College, Lira city, and Zaharah Namanda, Co-Director of the AFRICA ELI will lead the students platform with support from Emmanuel. Staff from both their organisations shall assist in the process. The last day of the Collaboration hub will be awarding certificates and carrying out final evaluation assessment through forms and stories. This virtual event is funded by the Mandela Washington Fellowship LINC Grant 2021
